Yippee, its the weekend. Its been a tough week for us. Somehow it was not as plain sailing as we would’ve liked it to be. I am sure CJ is overjoyed that the weekend is looming!!! After many frustrations with having left his uniform on the sports field and getting demerits more then usuall … all this much to mommy’s dismay, he must be breathing a sigh of relief. Its also gonna be a busy weekend. We having friends over for a braai tonight. We have to be a CJ’s school at 8am for JP Athletics and then later mommy gets some time off to have supper with the girlfriends.
But before you go there, let’s track back one day - yesterday was weigh in day for mommy. Much to my disappointment I didn’t lose any weight. Thank goodness I didn’t add any either. But best of all, our “baby” dog Ziggy had a puppy yesterday. Now the family has 4 dogs. Didn’t have a chance to take a pic as mommy Ziggy wouldn’t allow us too close to her, yet. Please keep your fingers crossed that this puppy survives. Ziggy is not a very practical mommy. The previous litter (is this what you call it???) of pups, three of them, didn’t make it passed one week. Hopefully this one will hang in there … will keep you posted.

Hope you all have a great weekend …

Hectic days 24 July, 2006

Do I feel bushed. Its as if I just got off a rollercoaster ride … Since Thursday things in this family home has been hectic. Chloe was under the weather last week into the weekend. I managed to get the last appointment (17h45) at our family GP on Friday evening. Just to have it interrupted by an emergency - a little girl about the same age as Chloe (3) had a gash in her ear after falling bashing her head against something. I felt sorry for her parents cos I think they were on the roller coaster ride at that time. None the less, Chloe was diagnosed with flu after a nearly 2 hour wait. The next morning Caleb had mini soccer league at school - we were on the soccer field at 7h30 already. The league didn’t go that well for Caleb and his team. Out of the 5 matches, they won 1 and lost 4. Caleb was very disappointed. According to him, he played very hard and his team mates made them loose the tournament. Whatever happened to team effort. After soccer we went to ouma (mommy’s mom) for potjiekos (Potjiekos” - (poy-kee-kawse) directly translated “pot food” or food prepared in a pot.In South Africa this means only one thing, food prepared outdoors in a cast iron, round, three legged pot using either wood coals or charcoal.) Daddy was the able chef of this delicious potjie. Ouma had a friend from Portugal visiting and she wanted us all to be there so she can introduce her friend to the children she once knew who have now all become adults with children of their own. It turned out to be a fun-filled day. On Sunday the whole “fandamily” had lunch at the home of the newly weds … Oh, it so good to wake up on a Sunday knowing that mommy doesn’t have to do any cooking. I promised to take a dessert along - thank goodness for Woolies, I could keep my promise.

Today wasn’t such a good day. I left work a half hour later then usual and got caught up in traffic. I got home 1 hour later then usual. Caleb and I have been at logaheads all night for a whole lot of “irregularities” He actually got a spanking from mommy tonight. Mommy’s more miserable about it then he is - the innocence of a child, I suppose.

All my chores for tonight are done, the kids are sleeping already …. I am gonna get into a hot bubble bath with a book I started reading - hopefully I’ll feel better after that.

If all goes well, I will post some pictures of Caleb in his soccer kit … If all goes well!!! (me and photo blogs are still not friends) Hope you all have a good week!!!

Mommy joins the library 20 July, 2006

Yesterday was totally weird. My “after work” routine was interrupted. Usually I fetch Chloe from creche, then Caleb from aftercare and we proceed home, where the I start supper and see that the kids get a bath … well, yesterday I had to go to the library before going home because the children’s books were two weeks overdue. Not only did it cost me R12.00, but mommy joined the library. I still can’t believe I did. The last time I had a library membership card in my name was when I was a student. What’s even more weird (to me at least) is that I am a librarian by profession and yet I don’t have a membership at my local library. Rambling Librarian is probably laughing while reading this. You see, I work in a corporate library and we don’t offer books for leisure. But still I think it was “unpatronage” (is there such a word?) of me not to have a library membership!!!! At least I encouraged my children to join the library.

As a result of all this rigmaroles, I was so disorganised last night because my routine interupted that I ended up going to bed at 19h45. Now that is weird cos with all my evening chores I never get to bed before 22h00. The downside of this was that I had to get up earlier this morning cos I still had allot of preparation to do … get uniforms ready, pack lunches etc etc - doesn’t look like much but my time in the mornings are very limited. What a rush.

I sincerely hope I survive this day!!!!
