When life sends people your way who are selfish, inconsiderate, mean and hateful, think of them as sandpaper. They may scratch you and rub you the wrong way. But eventually you end up smooth and polished and THE SANDPAPER is just worn out and ugly.

Grumbling ramblings 3 November, 2006

I hate the fact that I have to travel so far to work everyday. I have been doing it for nearly 10 years now!! I can’t do it any longer! For those of you who don’t know it already … I live in Pretoria and work in Joburg. Not only is it tiring but it is also very stressful. Whoever said it was great to sit behind the wheel of your car, traveling 65kms at 55 kmph due to heavy traffic volumes, was easy peasy??? Maybe the first few days, weeks and years. Yes, then you deal with it because you still excited about your new status (married) and because you excited about getting home to a new house and a new life. But having done it twice a day for five days of the week for nearly 10 years … well, let’s just say … IT IS NOW TAKING ITS TOLL ON ME!!!! :-(

I get up at 4h30 to get ready to leave home at 5h45 so that I can be in time for a job that starts at 8h00. It usually takes me anyting between one and a half to two hours to get to work. If it rains (like it has been this past week) I have to up my times by at least 15 minutes. By the time I get to work I am ALREADY exhausted. And to crown it all, I have to do it all over again in the afternoon. Then I usually get home at 17h30 … that’s if there are no accidents or interruptions on my way :-(

And once I get home I have to start my second job, being a wife and a mother. I really wish that my second job was the only one I had to maintain!!!!
Thank goodness its Friday today!!!  :-P

  2. This frustration is now becoming unbearable.
  3. I can’t open my blog without a “connection time out”.

At least with blogger I could post via email … I love this thing called blogging, but I love my sanity more!!!

Hala palala 19 September, 2006

Hala Palala (insert the sound of clicking fingers), I am gonna tell mommy!!! This is the jingle Chloe normally sings just before she tells on her brother. It is also warning for mommy to know what’s coming - but yesterday it was different. Late yesterday afternoon I was reading the newspaper, Chloe was playing in the room and Caleb was playing soccer in the court yard all by himself … its his favourite past time. Daddy wasn’t home yet. After a time and a bit I heard a commotion and went to check what was happening - just in time to find Caleb clambering off 3 garden chairs stacked on top of each other. I went lame at the knees as I realized what had just happened. Caleb was on the roof to fetch his ball … can you believe it!!! I reprimanded him for that, making him realize the dangers of what he just did. I told him that Daddy would’ve given him a spanking if he was home (no man, daddy would’ve taken the ball off the roof if he was home…). During all this time Chloe was in the room, minding her own business - while at least I thought she was. Later on daddy did come home. Chloe walked into the room where we were sitting and blurts out loudly “Mommy, did you tell daddy Caleb was on the roof?” No hala palala or any warning whatsoever. That’s our drama queen!!! I guess that’s her job as the youngest sibling … to tell on the others :-)

Meanwhile back at the ranch blogosphere frustration linger!!! I am still having hassles opening my blog or any on my blogroll. I link to your blog, but the page never downloads completely so I link to it again and again …. and then I just give up!!! I miss reading your blogs, guys :-(

Caleb is on holiday (again!!!) and was left at home with our helper/domestic worker (not sure what their job title is in the US). He did very well in entertaining himself for the better part of the day … until he decided to tidy his toy trolley …What a mess!!!

That was not the end of my pleasant surprises … today Chloe flashed me a smile with a difference … she always has the biggest smile when I fetch her from creche (daycare) and today she had this big GAP in the front of her mouth. On closer inspection I discovered that her front tooth was …. BROKEN

What can I say. The weekend was fabulous and best of all, my baby survived the trip. See the pictures

She made it!!!

Well, maybe the weekend wasn’t THAT fabulous … and maybe it wasn’t that bad either, but I think it was a bit exhausting. We went camping with a group of friends. We were three families. There was  were 8 children in total not counting the 2mnth old baby. The kids were extremely intolerable intolerant of each other and that was very tiresome. Fighting over toys and constantly bickering about who is friends with who. Is this what normally what happens when camping in a group? This was only the second time we went camping with in a group and with the same people. Daddy & I thoroughly enjoyed the company, but I vowed that if kids’ rivalry persists with the children then maybe camping in a group is not such a good idea … any advise?

Besides the kids’ rivalry - the weather was good, the food was good and my children survived and enjoyed the weekend. I plan to post pictures of the weekend later on in our photo album - link availble on the left side of the blog.
