We survived a very short holiday!!!

I find myself between a rock and a hard place. I am in a predicament. You see, a few ultimatums have come my way. And frankly I don’t gave a damn know what to do.

In February this year I started working at a school in my area. I was appointed to run the school’s media centre/library. I have a formal qualification in library science. I have no teaching/educator qualification. And as a result I am not allowed to give instruction. I am not allowed to teach. But now the story goes like this. The school where I am currently employed want to introduce a library period for all the grades. Currently only Grades 1-3 come to the media centre on a formal basis, but with their class teacher. As of next year the school want to introduce period for library or information literacy and the person in the library will have to do the tution thereof. Where does that leave me??? Adapt or die! Exactly!!! My HOD has now given me an option … get a teacher’s qualification and the job is yours OR  … we need to employ a qualified teacher in your place!!!

Frankly, I don’t have the time nor the energy to go back to school. And for that matter, the duration a full-time teacher’s course is three years. How long do you think it will take me to complete a part-time course …. FOREVER!!!

What to do now? Its not as if I can just stay at home!!!

Three weeks have come and gone. Its back to school for whole lot of us tomorrow!!! I can’t believe its all over for now … at least until September, then we have another week of school holidays. But for now, its back to the grinding stone for most of us in my neck of the woods … where does the time fly to?
