My little girl was swinging over and under a railing when her hands slipped.
She landed with her face on a log.

100_0713.jpgThe drama queen is in Grade R this year. She is in a class that prepares them for “big school” One of the things they do this year is to learn to read. The Drama Queen is very excited about the idea, but not very co-operative when we need to “practice” her reading. She also gets very confused and swops her letters around. For example, s-a-s spells sas, but the drama queen will end up saying ass. It causes lots of frustrations and at times, tears to. So what does a good mommy do … I made a whole lot of flash cards last night and cut them out in neat little squares. I am gonna put this all over the wall in her room so she can read it at every opportunity she gets. She won’t even realise she is practising her “reading” . Brilliant idea when I started. After cutting out all those flash cards I had blisters it felt like I had blisters on my fingers !!!

When life sends people your way who are selfish, inconsiderate, mean and hateful, think of them as sandpaper. They may scratch you and rub you the wrong way. But eventually you end up smooth and polished and THE SANDPAPER is just worn out and ugly.

homework.jpgHomework rule our lives during the week. We don’t do much other then assist with homework. CJ is now in Grade 2. He gets ALOT of homework every day. He doesn’t get time to do it at Aftercare because he has at least two activities after school, after which I fetch him. By the time he gets home he is so tired from all the activity that just sitting too long on a chair with a pencil in his hand is a battle.  Daddy does homework with him. I can’t cos I don’t have the brains the patients. And besides I do the cooking and sort out the sports bags for tomorrow … take out the wet towels and replace them with dry ones; take out the dirty cricket kit and replace it with a clean one.

Yesterday was the worst ever. CJ couldn’t stop crying cos the math numeracy just didn’t make sense. I think he was too tired. To make matters worse, the Drama Queen insisted on someone checking her “homework” too. No, she doesn’t really have homework, its only attention cravings. That made CJ cry even more … he said her nagging was making it even more difficult to concentrate.

I can’t wait for the school holidays!!!
