Bible vs Mobile Phone 28 June, 2006

I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF WE TREATED OUR BIBLE LIKE WE TREAT OUR CELL PHONES ?What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it as we travelled?
What if we used it in case of an emergency?
This is something to make you go…hmmm…where is my Bible?
Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we dont ever have to worry about our bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill!

Thanks to my sister-in-law. She sent this to me in an email - makes you think, doesn’t it?

yes this is a interesting thought….however, what if one has the bible one ones phone?mmmmmm
Not too long ago i didnt have my bible with me when the minister ask us to stand and read a scripture….so i whip out my phone and go to the scripture…and i could actually hear the people gasp in disbelief….obviously thinking that im reading an sms…nevertheless…i couldnt turn around to tell them that their summations were incorrect.
which brings me to my next point…perhaps we just spend more time wih this piece of microwaved metal…but if you have the bible on it then suddenly a piece of metal turns into a very important utility in our lives……just a coupla thoughts

Why don’t you revive your blog and show us how to get the Bible onto our mobile phones!!!! Good excuse to start blogging, don’t you think?

To all: In response to ‘Mobile Phone vs. Bible’,
I submit the following: ‘Soul’ vs. Pocket.

Yes to the original questions, but, what if we memorised the Word of God? What if it was in our soul - not merely in our hands?

Hey:
1. You would carry it around in your heart and mind - can’t get any closer than that.
2. You would never need to turn back to get it - it would be impossible to go anywhere without it.
3. You can ‘flip through it’ wherever you are: you can be driving; or whenever it is too dark to read; under water; at work, you name it - on the loo.
4. You will receive insights and blessing from the Holy Spirit - broadening and deepening your understanding in the Word of God.
5. If you memorise it and then ‘think it through’ it becomes a source of sustenance - and then you won’t want to live without it.
6. Make it a family exercise and everyone will benefit - children will readily participate, especially with a reward system for reciting verses.
7. Too easy - refer to #3. On this heaven-bound journey, destined to be in His glorious Presence - how could we not desire to use and apply it?
8. Any where, any time - refer to #3. No situation is beyond the compassion and grace of God.
9. It becomes a ‘living’ Word - it never needs upgrading. Oh, and the Holy Spirit is not limited to any Version!
10. The Author, the Holy Spirit, He is your connection.
11. Even when we have sinned (grieved and quenched the Holy Spirit), He will still bring conviction through the Word - to bring us to repentance.

FINAL NOTE:
If you are at all interested in Scripture memorising, and the amazing benefits it brings, let me know, I would gladly help you with it. It is very easy, and you will soon reap the benefits.

Yes, yes, I know, you think your memory is beyond doing this. But nothing could be further from the truth, because, we already commit lots of information to memory - without hardly even trying - so this is simply not a valid excuse.

In fact, by neglecting this wonderful tool you are actually depriving yourself - and you are holding back your own spiritual growth.

Grace and blessing - your brother in Christ
